David Teo Shih Yee

David Teo practices in the area of corporate and commercial law, with a special focus on M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and tax advisory practice. His clients includes multinational corporations (MNCs), listed companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), venture capital investors, and start-ups.
David advises high-net-worth individuals, private banks and trustee companies on Singapore tax and trust matters. He was previously a member of the audit committee of a charitable organisation in Singapore.
His experience includes:
- Representing companies of varying sizes from start-ups to MNCs in areas such as acquisition and amalgamation of entities, and assisting companies to achieve desired growth in capital investments and business goals.
- Advising a foreign regulatory authority on Singapore’s international network of agreements such as bilateral tax treaties and Free Trade Agreements (FTA), as well as employment laws such as non-statutory benefits and retrenchment requirements.
- Assisting companies with the compliance of SGX Listing Manual, in particular, continuing disclosure obligations.
- Advising on tax treaty issues relating to permanent establishments, stamp duty relief applications, and advance tax rulings.
David graduated with an LL.B. from the National University of Singapore in 2002. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in July 2003 and as a Solicitor of England and Wales in 2005 (non-practicing).
David completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2008 and also holds a B.Sc. (Upper Second Class Hons.) in Applied Accounting under the ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Degree Partnership.
David also has experience as a mediator with the Community Mediation Centre in Singapore. He speaks English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.
